Unfortunately, there are almost no real beaches in Candidasa. White sandy beaches Candidasa have gone because of reckless mining of corals that protected seashore. Now almost the entire coast is covered with large pebbles, but the water, however, is clean and clear. Fortunately, a small piece of sandy beach is still preserved. This beach is called White Sand Beach or Pasir Putih in local language and located in 15 minutes from the center of Candidasa toward Ujung. A sign indicating a turn to the beach is almost invisible, so it pays to ask around some local guy. Besides to swimming and sunbathing on the beach you can dine in one of several beach restaurants. Be prepared that the way down to the beach is not the easiest one for either a car or a scooter.
