Motorbike in Bali

Scooter – is the most convenient mean of transportation on the island of Bali. Motorbikes are even more prevalent than in Thailand, and despite the busy traffic, so many foreigners choose this method of travel. Scooter will not only allow you to easily avoid tiresome traffic jams, but will save you money considerably. If you rent a scooter for 1 day it will cost you 50,000 rupiahs. If you need motorbike a month, you can bargain up to 450-500 thousand rupiahs. Naturally, if you rent a scooter for more than 1-2 days, you should carefully examine it and give it a try. In order to drive a scooter or motorcycle you need international license with the relevant category, but many tourists travel with no licenses at all. From time to time the road police can stop you and if you fail to provide your license they offer you to pay a “fine” in cash. Standard “fine” for that is 50 thousand rupiahs, though some may ask for much more, especially in the area of Kuta. So just smile and insist that you don’t have the money and can pay only 50 thousand rupiahs. The most important thing is to be calm and friendly in this situation. Also you can be fined for stopping after the stop line at traffic lights and, of course, for driving without a helmet, which is generally not recommended at all due to safety reasons.
